About FonIndex

FonIndex is an independent tracker for the investment funds traded on TEFAS, Turkey’s electronic fund trading platform. It exists to make Turkish fund data readable to people who do not read Turkish.

What this site does

Daily price and return data for every active fund on TEFAS is collected automatically and presented in a comparable form. Each fund has a page carrying:

  • Daily, monthly and annual returns
  • Fund size and number of investors
  • Portfolio breakdown and risk score
  • The management company behind the fund
  • Performance against gold, BIST 100, USD, EUR, CPI inflation and bank deposits

Who this is for

Mostly people outside Turkey trying to understand what Turkish funds actually return: expatriates, the diaspora, analysts, and anyone comparing a high-inflation market against their own.

One thing worth stating plainly, because most sites in this space leave it out: if you live outside Turkey you probably cannot buy these funds. TEFAS access normally requires a Turkish tax number and an account with a Turkish bank or broker. This site is built for understanding the market, not for transacting in it.

Reading the numbers

All figures are in Turkish lira. A fund up 45% over a year has not made anyone 45% richer in dollar or euro terms — lira inflation and the exchange rate both matter, and every fund page shows returns against CPI inflation and the major currencies for exactly that reason.

Where the data comes from

Everything is sourced from TEFAS and from the public filings of the fund management companies. FonIndex is not affiliated with any fund, management company or brokerage. See the methodology page for how the figures are calculated, how often they update, and what the known gaps are.

Independence

FonIndex is free to use and carries no commercial relationship with any fund or intermediary. The site is funded by advertising. Nothing here is investment advice.
